NEVADA SCENIC BYWAYS – ANGEL LAKE NEAR WELLS

A nice day trip from Wells NV is a trip on a paved up to Angel Lake, elevation about 8400 ft. Two ladies were trout fishing there when we arrived on Aug. 31. These pictures were taken in the Canon Power Shot S2 IS 5 mp. digital camera with a 12 x optical zoom lens. In some pictures of the waterfall it was in extreme telephoto.

The waterfall in the stream which feeds the lake is slightly right of center in the dark area, up from the greenery on the edge of the lake. Yes, those are snowfields in the upper left remaining on August 31.

Another side of the lake. A foot trail goes up from right to left.

Jo wanted to get a closer view of the waterfall, so we followed a trail and after scrambling over a few rocks a good path led us toward it.

For you camera buffs, this is an extreme telephoto shot of the falls taken from the same spot as the above picture.

A less extreme shot of the waterfall, probably better than the above!

Right side of the valley. Is there a geological name for the spires at the top of the ridge?

View of the lake from above it, showing the valleys below and our footpath. My COPD prevented us from going further up the valley above the lake. It was an ideal day for a the short hike we took.
